I need to know that it is new covenant literature, and in terms of the canon it presupposes the old covenant. So, in terms of redemptive history, it is found in these last days in which God has spoken to us by his Son (Heb. 1:1–2). Using a biblical theology approach such as this safeguards us from citing texts out of context when addressing the normative questions of what we ought to believe, what we should value, and how we ought to live.
